Our goal in therapy is to help you discover your own goals in therapy. Together we can develop your strengths, build resilience, and identify areas that need compassionate attention. Deep healing comes from a respectful and empathic connection in a safe environment. We provide that, and help you to grow toward what you value most. We realize that no two people are the same and as such tailor our work to meet the specific needs of our clients. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression or any other issue, we will help you recognize underlying problems, fully realize your strengths and adjust certain behaviors and thoughts to see things a different, healthier way.
Our practice specializes in treating individuals, couples and families and we offer comprehensive services dealing with:
- Psychological assessments for international adoptions
- Recovery and Addiction
- Sexual orientation and identity
- Ethnic, racial and cultural issues
- Family dynamics
- Third party reproduction
- Marriage and Relationships
- Immigration issues
- Bio-psycho-social evaluations for people applying for US Visas
The Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact, or PSYPACT, allows me to see clients outside of North Carolina via telepsychology. An updated map of states that are included in this agreement can be found at psypact.org/page/psypactmap. Currently, PSYPACT includes Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia (DC), Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Please contact me at DrAmyHecht@gmail.com if you are interested in doing telepsychology and reside in an eligible state other than North Carolina. We will schedule a time to talk to see if this option is suitable for what you are hoping to address in therapy. If, for some reason, we decide not to pursue telepsychology together, I will work with you to identify local or other resources you can access.
